Birmingham and the Black Country shopping

Shopping in Birmingham and the Black Country is a real treat. In the heart of the city, alongside Harvey Nichols with its multitude of designer labels, Mailbox hosts brands such as Gieves and Hawkes, Tommy Hilfiger, Calvin Klein Underwear and one of the UK’s leading bridal retailers, The Wedding Club. The Bullring & Grand Central have seen the arrival of Michael Kors, a standalone store for British contemporary fashion brand, Whistles, Victoria’s Secret and new locations for Ted Baker and the Spanish-influenced fashions of Mango.

In the Black Country, Dudley has regular retail staples like River Island, New Look and Boots alongside enterprising independents. In the centre is a fountain, presented to the town by the Earl of Dudley in 1867, which gives its name to the Fountain Arcade, which dates back to 1925, and contains an eclectic offering of stores including a traditional toy shop and a vintage camera specialist. Between the statue and the fountain is an open-air market, established in the 13th century and in operation six days a week. In addition, there’s also a busy indoor market while the Trident Centre is a small 1970s mall of 34 shops.
