Getting to and around South Yorkshire

By Jessica Fogarty

Travel to and around South Yorkshire with ease with a number of different options.

Getting here

By road

If you’re visiting by car, you can take the M1 or M18 and A1 motorways to reach South Yorkshire. If you’re hopping on a bus, then there are five main interchanges and four mini-interchange sites across South Yorkshire.

By air

Doncaster Sheffield Airport is slap bang in the middle of the country. Served by some of the UK’s biggest road networks and with a new link road, journey times have fallen even further. The airport is only seven miles from Doncaster rail station.

Once you’ve arrived at your South Yorkshire destination of choice, there are even more options on how to travel between locations – be it by tram, taxi, bike or on foot.

Getting around

Stagecoach Supertram is a quick and easy way to explore Sheffield. Three rail routes cover 29km of the city, providing access to the railway station, city centre shops, the cathedral, universities, Sheffield Arena, Meadowhall shopping centre and more.

On foot

Once you’re in a South Yorkshire town or city centre, it’s easy to explore on foot. You’ll have the luxury to stop by the shops, take photographs and discover new places as you go. Come prepared in comfortable footwear as there’s plenty to see.
