Brighton and Hove restaurants and cafes

Brighton is a foodie gem with a host of fantastic restaurants, bistros, cafes and pubs and here are some of the best places to eat. Tucked away in Kemptown’s quiet back streets is Busby and Wilds. It has a relaxed atmosphere, with wooden tables and a stripped back design that makes it popular with families. Another pub doing top-notch nosh is The Ginger Dog, which is one of four eateries in the Ginger chain. The Gingerman (Norfolk Square) and The Ginger Pig (Hove Street) are both in Hove, while The Ginger Fox is a few miles away in rural Albourne. The Ginger Dog is a cosy, local pub with real ales, craft beers and fine wines alongside a menu of traditional British food.

You can’t get more British than fish and chips. For the best in town head to Bardsley’s on Baker Street – which has been a family business for four generations – or the award-winning Bankers in Hove. For something a bit more upmarket, take a visit to Riddle & Finns. It has two venues: a Champagne and oyster bar in The Lanes and a restaurant in the seafront arches, where you can enjoy your meal alfresco, or with views of the sea from the dining room. And if you’re feeling really flash, treat yourself and a loved one to the tasting menu, at Drakes. Part of the stunning Georgian boutique hotel, the restaurant prides itself on its great service and modern European menu.
