Althorp was built in 1508, by the Spencers. Visitors are invited to explore this wonderful house, discovering beautiful interiors and one of Europe’s finest private collections of furniture, pictures and ceramics.
Holy Sepulchre Church
This is one of the many Anglican parish churches throughout England which make up the national Church of England. Locally, this ancient church is known as Holy Sepulchre or St Sepulchre’s, but is more fondly known as St Sep’s.
Nene Whitewater Centre
The Nene Whitewater Centre was the UK’s first pumped, artificial whitewater course. Three pumps control the flow of water down the 300-metre whitewater course allowing the centre to alter the course’s difficulty.
Northampton Guildhall is a Grade 2-listed building that boasts a stunning Great Hall and over 100 years of history, the ceiling is richly decorated with arms of the counties and the stained glass windows are by John Milner.
Phipps Northampton Brewery Company
The Albion Brewery and its bar is open for brewery tours. Sample Phipps’ wonderful range of ales, ancient and modern and follow the brewing process and learn a few of Phipps’ secrets. See website for more information.
Towcester Mill Brewery
Towcester Mill Brewery is small independent brewery and tap room with a large garden based in the old Towcester Mill which is set in the heart of Towcester. The brewery shop is located nearby at the Bell Plantation Garden Centre.
