By rail
Getting to York by train is easy and great value too. From London the journey time is under two hours; Edinburgh is only two and a half hours from York and there are direct services from Liverpool, Manchester, Birmingham and the South West.

By car or bus
Situated midway between Edinburgh and London, just 20 minutes from the M1/M62 motorway network, York is within comfortable travelling times of most regions in the UK.
By air
York is within easy travelling distance of four international airports – Leeds Bradford, Manchester, Humberside and Doncaster Sheffield Airport. From Manchester Airport, frequent Transpennine Express trains provide the city with a direct round the clock link.
By sea
P&O Ferries operate daily overnight crossings from Zeebrugge and Rotterdam direct to Hull with a coach link to York.

Getting around York
By bus
To access many of York’s out of town attractions and the coast, use the local Coastliner service which runs regular services including Leeds, Malton, Pickering, Scarborough, Filey and Whitby.
Shopmobility
Visitors are welcome to use the excellent facilities of the Shopmobility scheme. Scooters, powered wheelchairs or manual wheelchairs are available. Shopmobility is located on level 2, Piccadilly Car Park. Blue Badge holders may park free in all city council car parks (except the Shambles), up to the maximum time allowed (please display time clocks).
