Belgrade Theatre

Belgrade Theatre is Coventry’s main hub for live entertainment and produces a varied programme of stand-up comedy, film, theatre and music. It opened in opened in 1958 and soon gained widespread recognition for its new company, which included members such as Ian McKellen, Trevor Nunn, Joan Plowright, and Michael Crawford.

The Grade II listed building has a capacity of more than 800, and acts as both a producing and receiving theatre for the local people. Having been the first civic theatre to be built after World War II, the venue is seen as a symbol of prosperity following the major damage caused to the city because of bombing.
