A city and county rich in culture and heritage
The county of Warwickshire is rich in culture and heritage, with all the family attractions you could ask for. The county also offers magnificent medieval castles and ancient legends, historic market towns and gorgeous gardens. Learn the legend of Lady Godiva or visit the birthplace of Shakespeare himself. There are so many things for you to see and do in the city of Coventry. From music, theatre and festivals, to museums, cathedrals and medieval history, the city has something for everyone. Home to rich history, ancient legends and an abundance of unique arts and culture, Coventry has an exciting future as the UK City of Culture 2021 and a host city for the Commonwealth Games 2022.
Warwickshire is the beating heart of Shakespeare’s England so it’s only right to pay homage to the famous bard by spending a day walking the cobbles of oh-so-pretty Stratford-upon-Avon. There are plenty of trails and guided tours that allow you to soak up both the Tudor atmosphere and hear the stories that inspired Shakespeare to put quill to paper. If time allows then catching one of his plays performed live at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre is something to tick off your bucket list. Don’t think all the fun of the region is only restricted to daytime. Shakespeare wrote that ‘good wine is a good familiar creature, if it be used well’, he would be proud of the number of traditional pubs still standing in Stratford and the rest of the county, many offering foodie delights.
